Working out of Southern Indiana, Brian Brown has had an interest in photography since 1984, when he built a pinhole camera from a cardboard box as a Junior at New Albany High School. He has since photographed landmarks in the United States and Europe. “I’m happiest when I’m looking through the viewfinder of my camera, capturing the moment.

“My goal is to get the emotional impact – capturing the moment that makes you go ‘Wow’,” says Brown. “I once heard ‘Life isn’t about the number of breaths you take, it’s about the moments that take your breath away.’ I try to incorporate that philosophy into my photographs.”

A big fan of the Impressionist movement of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Brown finds inspiration in the great works of Monet and van Gogh. “I try to see the world as they did - not that I compare myself to those guys! Using a brush and a palette knife they painted the world around them and made it beautiful, turning ordinary scenes into extraordinary art. I want to do the same thing with my camera.”
